The garden is about 90 feet long and 20 feet wide. It is in north Derbyshire, faces east and gets its fair share of frost and biting winds. Ten years ago, looking from the house, there was a long area of grass (hardly a lawn) then an area of paving slabs and finally an untouched area - mainly rubble. The garden was bordered on both sides by conifers and had a paved path for half its length down one side.

![]() Not everyone has a bus shelter in the back garden - we never really worked out why this had been built - but at least it gave us something for building a rockery ! |
