The mini growhouses To house the auriculas over the winter two 4-tier mini greenhouses were cut down into 2-tier and sited on a bench in a cool and sheltered part of the garden. The result of this was a good stock of healthy plants in the Spring. Below are a few remaining plants in the winter area.
By April many of the auriculas had been re-sited , as last year on the table under the gazebo, with added shading at both sides. They seem to do quite well here, but we have to re-think where to have a barbecue.
The Auricula Showcase Auriculas are classified according to the flower. The ones we have are - light centred and gold centred alpines, stripes, and show auriculas which include selfs, fancies and edges. Most of these are kept in pots so are protected from rain but we also grow some alpines in a trough. We also have several border auriculas growing in the garden. Light centred alpines These are mainly in shades of blue, pink and mauve.
